Breach

When there is no view to the sea
I am reminded of the complexities and displacements
Shallows that engulf sentient beings
Leaving us stranded
With our monikers
For things we cannot name
Beveled edges bend the view
Until our eyes cannot attain clarity
Nor connect our own continuity to fluidity composed
But we embark on this odyssey
Unframed by expansion
And isn’t that the mandate of the universe?
Its sole prerogative
Amalgamations transcending
We are revoking and upending
What we’re meant to be
Mavericks waking cause to breach a higher sea

This shift in this felt like clouds passing by, trying to see a shape in a shifting panorama. Wonderfully rendered.

I feel that sometimes the knowledge that the sea exists is a lot stronger than sea itself… which is what i felt reading your first lines… maybe imagination is stronger than us

I think that our realities find power in the thins we can imagine (and in how we choose to imagine them). And I have agree with Bjorn’s last bit, “maybe imagination is stronger than us”… But imagination belongs to us. The more we reach for, the more we get.

My goodness this is good! The entire poem as a whole feels like the gentle lapping of waves on a shore that seek to rejuvenate the senses and evoke deeper meaning. 🙂

This directs my gaze to horizons where sea and sky seemingly meet, all in the imagination of time

    Happy Sunday

“Shallows that engulf sentient beings” reminds me of Thoreau’s observation: “The mass of men live lives of quiet desperation.” What a great thing, instead of struggling in the shallows, or living in quiet desperation, to actually go on the odyssey for which we were made!

Yes. Life has so many complexities and displacements and we live in an uncertain sea. This poem, to me, had a thread of sadness about life and this world we live in. So beautifully written.

The enormity of all the unknown that stretches out before us can be frightening or exhilarating. Whether we find something to fear or inspire is up to us.

I can feel the lapping of the waves and see the clouds drifting by. Lovely and complex.

Some of my first memories are of the water ow it pulled at the life in tidepools–I feel a kinship with the sea–and have never lived far away from it–your piece speaks to my heart this morning!

Imagination is so powerful. It opens our eyes to the a world as small as a seed and as grand as the universe. I love going to the beach and listening to the waves speak.

“Leaving us stranded/With our monikers” – How can I not give a positive shout out for that! Well done for a multi-imaged spark of imagination.

Riders of the Tempest: The Story of WE
by H. Hennenburg

Riders of the Storm by H. Hennenburg ebook cover art
Cover painting by Autumn Chiu @ArtChiu

There is no “I”. There is no “you.” There is only WE. “Reality is in the possibilities,” and Riders of the Tempest is a quest for the heart of what can be.

This collection of poems by H. Hennenburg tells the story of WE. Born from Supernova, we bear the imprint of the universe: the mandate to expand. Gripped by a deep yearning, we march into a tempest…a great storm…a war between our desire to expand as individuals and our desire to expand into the truth of our oneness. We believe we are mere “echoes to the sea and gathering storm,” but there is more to the universe than what we see. We are “more than the caged experience of sight.” Endowed with an infinite stream of choices, what happens in our story if we reach for more?
