Accord
I find the centre path
My eyes smouldering with exhaustion
I tell you I am here of my own accord
Then pluck my eyes out and retire
I am no more bound to the maelstrom
No more a rat in the labyrinth proving my worth
I have scattered my pennies
For their rat-tat-tat
On the glistening white floors
And danced to their rhythm
Until my soles bled
My red fortune spattered and spilt
I hand you the hilt
And plunge myself thus to eternity
If I pierce the fabric
We have staged a coup
And I am bound with you
Into the margins

Very interesting images of life, purpose, death and eternity

There is freedom in giving up… there are always those pulling the strings who think they know what we need most.
Bound into the margins, outside the box? It reads like an empowering manifesto to me.
A powerful piece. I love the idea of individual coups (Such are the times we live in, I suppose). Awesome writing!
Very powerful I especially love I scattered my pennies, for their rat tata tat…..and danced to their rhythm
Sadly most creatures compete for a mate (or food) but humans tend to compete for everything, thus driving us all insane wanting what we don’t need spending money we cant afford and irritating everyone else we meet up with. We are so stupid we can’t see ourselves as a failed race except for that small portion of us….that are poets!
Arresting images!
Sooner or later, we must dance to our own tune. That too may have a cost, but surely preferable even so
Fabulous imagery… and so much to ponder – how does one get unbound from the maelstrom? Loved it!
Surrender–especially when done in love and trust–can be the best way to become… and ascend. The same goes with splitting, I think. The hurt of breaking isn’t so bad, if we get to be whole again (especially, if we get there with another).
The entire poem as a whole is gorgeous and serves as a manifesto! 😀
Giving up…sometimes it can be a blessing. I’ve done it with a few people in my life and it brought freedom.
Delightful read!
This reminded me of something told to me long ago, that freedom starts in the mind. This has its own direction of one that goes forward on their own terms.
It’s hard to find a way through the maze and things get rather messy along the way.
Wow, love the passionate language and the message of exercising a choice, albeit choosing the more challenging option.
(Sorry, I seem to have missed this one earlier, but glad to have seen it now.)
